Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.
Today's question is:
So, when can my puppy start socializing with other dogs? Great question. Uh, I say immediately. You know, as soon as you bring your puppy home from wherever you got the puppy, from the shelters or from a breeder, you know, you can start introducing, especially if you have other dogs in the home right away.
Frank Silva advised that socialization can begin immediately upon bringing the puppy home, particularly if other dogs are already in the house, but within a controlled environment. However, Frank Silva cautioned that a puppy should not go out to new, busy environments until they have received all necessary vaccinations to prevent diseases like parvo. When introducing a puppy to new people, they suggested having guests come into the home, coaching them to sit calmly and ignore the puppy until it gets comfortable, and advised against people running up to the puppy or putting their hands out, as this can appear threatening.
