Welcome to another Q&A session where I answer questions from y'all on the internet.
Today's question is:
Again, focusing on no tension on that leash. Okay. So that's great question. So what types of treat work best for motivating my dog? It depends on the dog. Okay. Some dogs have a a very high food drive, you know, so they can respond to just if you do feed your dog kibble, they're going to respond to the kibble. But other dogs may need a little bit more high value reward. So there's definitely a lot of treats on the market to uh train your dog with. Um I do believe that when you're building the foundational commands with your dogs, treatbased luring is the best. But after that, now we're dealing with behaviors. Okay? So, you want to wean the dog off of treats and focus on the behaviors. But with that said, it it it it's all dependent on your dog. If they respond to kibble, great. You're not going to fatten them up with the the high value higher value rewards of treats. Um, another good treat, and not all dogs like it, but you can test it out with your dog, is blueberries. Dried blueberries. high in antioxidants, very healthy for your dogs. So, I would highly recommend you trying out a few different options, but I always go back to kibble.
Frank Silva discussed types of treats for motivating dogs, stating that the best choice depends on the individual dog. He mentioned that some dogs respond well to kibble, while others may need higher-value rewards, and suggested dried blueberries as a healthy option high in antioxidants.
